On this design the Signature is hand-painted. The roses, the skull and the base are all finished by hand, which is what gives it the depth you can see in the photos. Every other colour option is pigmented during the pour instead, so if the painted look is what you're after, Signature is the one to pick.

If colour choice isn't important to you, you can also select Godemiche Purple, our classic house colour or choose Surprise Me and let us pick a colour combination for you. Surprise Me colours are chosen from our available silicone pigments and often result in unique combinations.

This toy is available in three silicone firmness levels:

Extra Soft
The most give of the three. The petals compress under your weight, which softens the texture and makes the whole thing gentler.

Soft
Still plenty of cushion, but the petals hold their edges better, so you feel more of the detail as you move.

Medium
Very firm. This one is for people who specifically want a much firmer clitoral toy and it's a lot for everyone else. There's no softening it once it's poured.

Not sure? Go Extra Soft or Soft.
Pick Medium only if you already know firm is what you're after.

1. Thread the straps through the slots in the base and secure the grinder to a pillow, cushion, chair or a partner's thigh. Check it doesn't shift before you get on.

2. Apply water-based lubricant across the roses and to yourself. Be generous, the petals have a lot of edges and lube is what turns catching into gliding.

3. Drop your body wand into the cup at the back of the skull. Make sure it's seated properly so the vibration carries through the whole piece.

4. Straddle the grinder and lower yourself down slowly, adjusting until you find where you want to sit.

5. Switch the wand on at a low setting and give yourself a moment before turning it up.

6. Start moving gently. Rock, grind or circle, and pay attention to how the sensation changes as you travel from the beak toward the crown.

7. Adjust as you go. Stay still and let the wand carry it or keep moving to work the petals.

8. When you're finished, switch off and lift the wand out. Wash the grinder with warm soapy water or a suitable toy cleaner and let it dry fully before storing.

• Use more lube than you think you need, the petals have a lot of surface area
• Move slowly at first, fine texture is easy to miss if you're going quickly
• Try sitting in different spots, the roses are denser at the crown than down the beak
• Start the wand low. It's easy to go straight to maximum and lose the texture underneath it
• Mount it on something firm, a solid cushion transmits more than a duvet does
• Go for the 1.5m straps if you're strapping it to a chair or a thigh rather than a pillow
• Try it with the wand off for a minute, just to feel what the roses do on their own
• It photographs beautifully, which is a strange thing to say about a grinder, but there it is

We made this one because we love Edgar Allan Poe. That's the honest starting point. Quoth the raven, a skull picked clean and roses growing over the whole thing.

The roses earned their place twice over. They're beautiful, which was the point, and they turned out to work exceptionally well with vibration. Each petal is a thin raised edge, so a wand's power moves into them instead of stopping at the surface and you end up with texture and vibration in the same place rather than one sitting on top of the other.

Quoth came from Odyssey, our darker sister brand, where it was designed around Poe and the Day of the Dead festival. We wanted it on this side too. There's no reason a sex toy shouldn't be something you'd happily look at.

Is a wand included?
No, you'll need a full-size body wand. Use one you already own or add one to your order.

Will my wand fit?
The cup fits most full-size body wands. Compact, mini and travel wands are usually too small to seat securely. Not sure about yours? Message us before you order and we'll check it with you.

Does the vibration reach the whole thing?
Yes. That's the bit people worry about with a piece this size, and it's the bit that surprises them. The silicone carries it right out to the petals, so you're not just feeling the spot directly above the wand.

Does it work without a wand?
You can grind on it, and the roses still have plenty of texture. But this one is built around the wand, so you'd be leaving most of it on the table.

Is anything insertable?
No. Purely external.

What straps do I get?

Close, but not identical. The Signature colourway is hand-painted, roses, skull and base, so no two bloom quite the same way. Other colour options are pigmented during the pour and vary a little too. Either way it's the point of handmade, and it never affects safety or how it works.

How do I clean it?
Warm water and mild soap or a toy cleaner, working into the gaps between the petals. Let it dry fully before you put it away.
